MELANCHOLY

Melancholy. I like how the ape is in focus while the background is out of focus. It says something about melancholy and depression. Many times in life melancholy and depression occurs because of an intense and prolonged focus on our shortcomings, our weaknesses, small problems we magnify out of proportion, and immediate issues that are NOT unique to our individual experience, but rather common to everyone. With all this in mind we lose focus of all the possibilities available to us in the background of life. Of course, it can be argued that this ape is sad, because he is in captivity, and his possibilities are very limited to life in a prison we like to amusingly call a zoo.

Sincerely,
The one you met at Enzian with the white stripped dress shirt.
